For students, maintaining their GPA especially during their time in universities is what concerns them first of foremost. In order to make sure that their GPA turns out be above average, they have to put themselves through strenuous study schedules and score good grades.
A Grade Point Average or GPA is a one particular number which represents the average value of the accumulated final grades which have been scored in the courses studied over time.
In order to calculate GPA, you need to add up all the accumulated final grades, and divide the sum by the number of grades awarded. Cumulative GPA similarly gives the number which consists of an average of all of the courses they studied during their complete period of education. As such, students find it handy to calculate their Cumulative GPA through a Cumulative GPA Calculator.

High School GPA Calculator – Instructions
Step 1: Select the format of your grade
In order to figure out your GPA, you can first select your grade format that you are following currently. That format can be letter grade or percentage grade. You need to make sure that you have your grade before you receive the final report card; therefore, you need to request your teacher to provide you with the grade beforehand.
However, if your teacher refuses to cooperate and does not confirm your grades to you, you can estimate your grades by yourself only. The letter grades usually range from A+ to an F as far as the 4.0 scale is concerned. Percentage grades usually range from 100% to 60%. Percentages falling below 59% are usually considered as an F i.e. Fail.
Step 2: Enter Your Current GPA (this is optional)
Enter the total credits that you have taken, and your current GPA that you have received. Once you enter your current GPA and the total credits, the calculator will factor in your current GPA and will start calculating your semester GPA.
This is optional step, and you can choose to skip this step by simply not entering any data here.
Step 3: Enter the name of your semester (this is optional)
Enter the name of your semester by giving it a custom name. This step is also optional and you can choose to skip it by not entering any data in this option.
Step 4: Add up all courses to calculate your GPA
You can now add your courses in the following format:
- Course Name
- Grade (Percentage or Letter Grade)
- Credits (let it remain as ‘1’ if you do not know the value)
- Course Type (Regular, Honors, etc.)
For Regular Classes, grades are given according to the set standard scales according to which; A=4, B=3, C=2).
For Honors Classes, grades are increased by half a point from the set standard scale.
For College Classes or Advanced Placements, grades are increased by a whole point.
The GPA will be automatically updated and adjusted once you enter the weight of the class and subject, and will then be shown as both weighted GPA and weighted GPA under ‘Your GPA’ section.
- Weighted GPA-course credits and weightings of course type are factored in
- Unweighted GPA-course credits and weightings of course type are ignored
To add more courses, click the ‘Add Course’ button.
Step 5: Add another semester if you wish to calculate GPA of multiple semesters
Follow Step 2, 3 and 4 and click on “Add Semester” to enter your course grades. The GPA of each semester will show up on the right side under the ‘Your GPA’ section.
